Thomas2488 , You're exactly right Elvis is the greatest singer of all time. I made the "stole" comments for the benefit of those who are always complaining that the whites stole the music from blacks. I am actually a country and bluegrass player, I also play a lot of 50's Rock and Roll. Both Elvis and I started off as Electricians, that is the only place that my talent would even compare to Elvis.I was 13 when I saw Elvis on TV in 1956, I have been a fan ever since. Hello everybody, this is a very complicated discussion. There were musicians you can't really place to one genre, and Eddie for sure was one of those. On the other side, you can't disqualify the singers and bands that succeeded Eddie, Buddy Holly and so one. It's history that Eddie's style influenced 1970 and 1980s pun and new wave music. Even in Germany, a group named "Bub" recorded a german version of summertime blues, one of Eddie's most famous songs.

Addendum: giterdun77 et al. If someone stole anything in the '50s, from black artists (and white ditto...u read right) it was the record companies/producers NOT the artists. AND you had an esp. bad one aka greedy booger, named Don Robey, black, but maybe white in his soul. He was not a racist as the only color he liked was the green one, he did not care if the artists were white or black. But does that make him better?
