He had several one sided mirrors with a see-through side. he actually had his other hand behind the main one. he obviously knew the 2 cards before hand. Just a simple mirror and camera angle trick. I call it a trick because it is tough to have everything in the perfect position

When he picked the blue card up notices he carefully turns the card but in-fact he turns 2 cards, the blue card being the 5 of spades and the red card being the 8 of diamonds giving the allusion of the blue card being 8 of diamonds.
