lol... oops. the results of typing @ 6 am and not payin attention to the spell check in the brower. And yes, I do use abbreviations of words but people can still understand what I'm saying as opposed to:
"BiTcH WaT Da FuQ DoNt gET SmArT WiT Me nD YeA I SaId dAt nD HaWt cUz bItCh iTs tRu i d kNo bOuT U BuT YeA!!!!"
There's a difference between that and small abbreviations like "tryina" and "cuz" or droppin the "g" at the end of a word or makin one up. I've got PLENTY of room to talk...

There are even small things that can help people understand even in the slightest what you're saying. They're called PUNCTUATION MARKS. And that "genious" mistake is a result of clumsy fingers... lol

NBC anchor Brian Williams just acted like a 7 year old begging for this song from JL. What's all the fuss about? Sounds like it's about some white folk trying to look cool. As a jazz dj, I have heard much better from early artists that are virtually unknown today. This is just ok. JL does not have a very melodic tone and his falsetto cracks. Bottom line: JL may look a bit like him, but he is no Marvin Gaye.

well Mr. Jazz DJ, JL is obviously influenced by artist such as Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Donnie Hathaway but that doesn't mean he is trying to be them. He's bringing in his own music with tones and lyrics that are true to him. There are so many artists that cant play instruments and cant actually sing. At least he's bringing genuine singing ability. An artist isn't defined by how he copies but how he/she creates.

Good point. JL is obviously an artist and art appreciation can be objective, but is mostly subjective. I noticed in college that many people who enjoyed "Cool Jazz" did not like works by Monk or Miles because they were so different. However, those people have a lot in common with these fawning over JL, in that; they are not connoisseurs or purists, rather, sheep following the MTV/VH1 herd. That is why I'm proud of my comment's -6 rating. The majority is almost always wrong.

You make a decent point but you are also forgetting that there are fans who liked his music before this MTV/VH1 bellwether of which you speak. So don't assume that just because people are fans of artist whom you think are indecorous, that this means they are not fans of your so called "purist" music. A real connoisseur of music appreciates artist whether they are mainstream or indie.
