well, i don't ... ( 7 months ago by zzz33333)
well, i don't really KNOW HOW to expand on it. this is the part where i get stuck and look like an idiot.
but i mean exactly that - outside of our society/system/culture/civilization, polio, malaria, depression, suicide, rape, murder, diabetes, heart disease, high cholesterol, tooth decay, acne, and on and on DON'T really exist AT ALL - and if they do it's in maybe .001% of the population and it's never a problem.
It would be ' ... ( 7 months ago by Adipatus)
It would be 'phantasmagorical' to pretend that life in the bush will be an idilic utopia where no one need die or get sick. Life au naturel will always be beautiful as well as 'nasty, brutish, and short'. Also you would have to kiss goodbye some six billion surplus people who only exist because technology produces enough food to feed them on the cheap on good and bad weather.
and famine the way ... ( 7 months ago by zzz33333)
and famine the way we understand it doesn't really happen. millions of people are starving worldwide. in primitive tribal systems, everyone loses weight in the winter - times are tough - but there isn't culture-wide or region-wide or species-wide starvation.
dig????
right, i understand ... ( 7 months ago by zzz33333)
right, i understand that it "does exist"
but for all intensive purposes it really doesn't
you can say, one out of every one million tribal people will have polio - but it's much higher inside our system. the same with many many other diseases and physical and mental afflictions.
You are basically ... ( 7 months ago by Mjhavok)
You are basically saying outside of the environment which Malaria evolved in, it doesn't exist. I am not sure what point you are trying to make.
Are you saying you ... ( 7 months ago by Mjhavok)
Are you saying you want us to exist in a pre-industrial, pre-agricultural society.
We invented a ... ( 7 months ago by Mjhavok)
We invented a vaccine for Polio(there was a Pulitzer winning book about it). Only idiots spreading lies about vaccines being infected are causing polio to make a come back in some countries like India. Malaria was all but wiped out in North America.
You are talking ... ( 7 months ago by jimisback)
You are talking cultures more than anything. Not civilizations.
Boo fucking hoo. ... ( 7 months ago by GetToWorkDammit)
Boo fucking hoo. Every day you live you are closer to dying. Its the same fucking thing. You dont see the relevance because youre still a child.
Youve got to be ... ( 7 months ago by GetToWorkDammit)
Youve got to be fucking kidding me. Are you really that fucking dense? Who pays your rent? Who pays for school? Clothes? Food? If your daddy foots the bill for any of that youre not on your own. You fucking idiotic spoiled child. You have no idea what it means to take care of yourself like a man. Or to take care of someone else. Douchebag.
Youve heard it before? Ever think maybe its cuz its true?
Youre a hillbilly ... ( 7 months ago by GetToWorkDammit)
Youre a hillbilly Hooligan. Serious fucking white trash.
do you ever have a ... ( 7 months ago by dnHooligan)
do you ever have a point? have you beat your meat to the point where its no fun anymore? why don't you just go away, and stop wasting oxygen? why don't you do something positive with your life, for a change?
'white trash' is still a few steps above 'piece of shit,' so get off my boot, you turd.
I dont think you ... ( 7 months ago by plenipotentiarius)
I dont think you can complain about others' reading since the things you propose are just romanticism with a twist, and we all know about romanticism. The twist is some discredited Malthusian extrapolations. But could Malthus have predicted the success of China's one child policy? Also what about all the 1000s of species that depend on humans and their waste, are you going to ignore them.
"Natural balance" is a myth without asteroids.
Your frustration though, is understandable.
Its much higher ... ( 7 months ago by barbariandoom)
Its much higher until someone finds a cure or solution to the problem. The thing is, not everyone has equal accessibility to certain things within civilization. In that sense, your idea that civilization is characterized by exploitation and is oligarchic in nature holds water.
civilization can be ... ( 7 months ago by UniversalBrother108)
civilization can be in a symbiotic state with nature, we can have all of the modern luxuries while living in perfect harmony with the earth.
Ha ha ha ha ha. ... ( 7 months ago by GetToWorkDammit)
Ha ha ha ha ha. Your pathetic attempts at wit make me laugh--but not for the reason you want. Fucking trailer fuck.

poor guy. i hope you find what you're looking for.
I'm always a bit ... ( 7 months ago by SuperiorMind)
I'm always a bit uneasy about trusting all contents of a book(s). My advice is to provide a detailed explanation of an element to the big picture - one at a time - in a way that will inform and convince your viewers. Our civilization's current composition may be ending - I agree with you there. We will always use what we can to adapt and maximize to the world around us -- it is inevitable.
Standards for ... ( 7 months ago by SuperiorMind)
Standards for electronic technology are improving to reduce electromagnetic radiation. 1 example of changes made to correct problems emerging as a result of technology. Technology also provides life support systems, medicine, mass-education, enough food to feed our population, etc. Take away the technology and remove 4/5 of the human population - so just pulling the plug would be out of the question.

nope, those things are by our standards.
no people=no standards=no connotation to naturally occuring things.
Do you honestly ... ( 7 months ago by barbariandoom)
Do you honestly think that no living beings suffered before humans existed? It is possible but very improbable.
I think I'm arguing ... ( 7 months ago by DANE842)
I think I'm arguing semantics. without us these were just things that happened. The dinosaurs had a really rough few days towards the end there...
