Bullwhip Cracking: The Snake Killer

Video Description:
The crack demonstrated in this video is called the 'snake killer.' It's a nice crack to for putting a fast succession of cracks close to the ground. Only the fall of the whip should be hitting the ground, which will happen after the whip cracks.
It can be fun to put a plastic water/soda bottle on the ground and try to hit it with the snake killer. When you can make the water bottle 'dance', then you know you've mastered this crack :-)
Also, when bringing the whip up, it's possible to bring it up to the side of yourself (the side opposite the whip hand) or straight up in line with the whip handle. You're less likely to hit your face if you bring it up to the side, however the whip is usually brought up straight when the snake killer is used in two-handed routines.

It's basically the same, the bigger the whip is the longer you have to wait for it to crack, so you basically just do all the cracks slower. Which actually takes less fort then the smaller whips.

Thanks for the videos Adam. They have been real helpful. My question is this. Can using my whip in the snow like you do here hurt the leather of my whip? I have a 10 ft 12 plait latigo bullwhip that I dress with montana pitch blend dressing.

When I use whips in the snow, I do it when the snow is cold enough so that it doesn't melt on the whip. It's only melting snow that gets a whip wet and hurts it. Also, really icy snow can scuff a whip. So I just crack leather whips in cold, soft snow.
