Now thats not really an argument unless you argument for HOW communism fails :)
I think the burden ... ( 4 days ago by godlesscontrarian)
I think the burden of proof would be on the communists for this one. It's been a total failure in every way in every country it's been implemented in. It usually has the opposite effects it was intended to: greater disparity between rich and poor, horrible human rights violations, totalitarianism, atrocious economic conditions, destroyed environments, etc. etc. I think the question should be: How does communism WORK, because the evidence is certainly stacked against it.
it does not factor ... ( 3 days ago by mccaffrj)
it does not factor in human nature. Human greed fucks it up. In an idal world where people would work selflessly to distribute all things equally it would b the greatest political system next to anarchism. But a black market alway emerges and human greed and want for more money, power, ect always ruins it. But im not an expert, i can b wrong, just my view on the matter.

Agreed, i think our view on this matter is very much the same indeed.
This is not the ... ( 3 days ago by Gufberg)
This is not the case, we see communism (or at least a strong socialism) is working in Cuba, its working in Venezuela and it worked in the Soviet Union. It may not work in North Korea, i know too little about it. And the Medias are too biased.
some say that communism doesn't work, and take Stalin as an example. Thats basically like saying capitalism doesn't work, and take Hitler as an example.
You've got your ... ( 3 days ago by Gufberg)
You've got your facts wrong im afraid.
In 1930 the Soviet ruble was 20 cent to a dollar. (shortly after the revolution) in 1970 that had increased to 60 cent to a dollar.
In other words, the soviet planned economy was growing faster than the american free market economy.
Also in 1980 the average soviet citizen had 15.000 dollars per citizen, at present a russian family have 9.000 dollars per citizen.
in fact the evidence is stacked FOR communism, not against it.
Hurricane frequency ... ( 2 days ago by DrewAWeeks)
Hurricane frequency increased for the last 80 years.
Pirates have decreased for the last 80 years.
SEE PROOF HURRICANES AND PIRATES ARE INVERSELY CORRELATED!
What were starting values of the currencies, what trading came into play, wars, environmental influences, what about resource availability, what about research and health care and other services are they available? Your monetary comparison does not even reflect true wealth, currencies always deflate and inflate for economic reasons.
oh my god, try to ... ( 2 days ago by Gufberg)
oh my god, try to at least hide alittle of your biased liberal views away.
The currencies was a picture of the larger economic situation of the two nations, when comparing them. If you didn't realize that, well then im just suprised.
I thought this was common knowledge, but since ur asking, The Soviet Union had: Free healthcare, free houses/apartments provided by the government, proper healthcare etc. Like any proper socialist nation. Its the basics of socialism/communism.
Ouh, and i see you ... ( 2 days ago by Gufberg)
Ouh, and i see you avoided trying to counter my argument about people generally being richer in the former Soviet Union, than in present day Russia.
So lets sum it up:
people were richer in the Soviet Union, than the russians are now.
They had free healthcare
EXTREMLY reduced food prices
free housing
guaranteed jobs for everyone.
This beats present day russia, and there is no way you can counter it.
Yes, Stalin was a prick. But guess what, Soviet had other presidents too.
I studied Russian ... ( 2 days ago by DrewAWeeks)
I studied Russian history during the era you're talking about and the quality of life in Russia was shocking. I think you need to dig a little deeper into your research as the population was extremely poor, struggled for survival and had lives the equivelant of slaves to initiate the industrial revolution. This was off the back of having a Tsar in power who did not take care of the people and let the country fall into ruin so by relation you'd expect life to improve with any reasonable system.
During Stalin's ... ( 2 days ago by DrewAWeeks)
During Stalin's reign he implemented Agrarian policies which lead to millions of deaths of citizens who starved in famines. The stalin trials for wiping out his opposition were in no way fair either, the trials were secret and he established his own dictatorship.
There was massive political unrest and rioting. The wealth was stolen from the Kulaks just as Nazi's stole it from the jews to redistribute as well as limiting consumption and redirecting all output back to investment into industry.
Educated foreigners ... ( 2 days ago by DrewAWeeks)
Educated foreigners (from capitalist countries) instructed the labor (which was alot of unpaid slave labor) by prisoners, some merely politicial produced alot of the output. Anyway, industry is to thank for anything good, not the ideology of communism because it was abhorrent and did not fulfill anything close to it's ideological value you percieved.

You've just made ... ( 1 day ago by Gufberg)
You've just made the most common mistake when trying to prove communism wrong. You've started talking about Stalin. I don't recall myself ever saying anything good about Stalin, so i don't really get why you talk about him.
By the way the number of deaths caused by Stalin is something historians have a hard time agreeing on. It could be a few hundred thousand, it could even only be 70.000. But it could also be millions. Its hard to say.
It's only hard to ... ( 1 day ago by DrewAWeeks)
It's only hard to say because you won't believe the figures in the records because it faults your beliefs.
Anyway you can't give an example of any system of communism more effective than this and it failed.
Ouh, but heres what ... ( 1 day ago by Gufberg)
Ouh, but heres what they don't tell in the history books our children are indoctrinated with: When Khruschev came to power, just after Stalin he began a 'de-stalinisation' of the country. He purged it of Stalin, and moved him away from the Lenin mousaleum. He released thousands og Kulaks, and let people write books critisizing communism. Here started work on the infrastructure, largely done by young idealistic communists, eager to help their country.(and this is the factual version actually)
I did read that in ... ( 1 day ago by DrewAWeeks)
I did read that in the history I studied in year 12 in my books (Australia). I think that is pretty poor if you weren't allowed to know these things. However, there was no special wealth created from this system during this time. It is only the wealth generated from slavery that came from Stalin and then the destalinisation period didn't have anywhere near the production of somewhere like American instrustrialisation.
Trying to end a ... ( 1 day ago by Gufberg)
Trying to end a discussion like this proves nothing but your lack of real arguments.
Show me these records.
And the Soviet Union was trying to achieve communism, they didn't have it. It was a socialistic society, just like Cuba is at the moment.
You know what reall fails? capitalists who've too blind to open their mind to other things, than what their society tells them.
Don't you get why the communist movement is rising all over the world?. Because it is needed.
So first you ... ( 1 day ago by Gufberg)
So first you critizise Stalin for being a mass murderer, and then you critizise Khruschev for not being as effective as Stalin.. Great.
By the way i never said that you weren't allowed to know these things in the west, my point is they don't write it in the history books they give our children.
But yet the fact remains, Soviet Economy was gaining on the american untill the 1970's. (in 1970 the average east german was actually richer than the average british, this is undenieable fact look itup
Instead of me ... ( 3 hours ago by return135)
Instead of me lecturing you on the multiple reasons why it fails, just read work written by the famous austrian economist Ludwig von Mises. He should be able to convince you.
