One most also bear in mind relative to Ron Paul's idea of the gold standard is that this was a suggestion. Why he chose a gold standard when Kennedy for example, desired to have it backed by silver, is something else; but in either case, the idea was the same, and if it wasn't an idea that would be best for Americans, then one should question why both men were silenced.

Well, Ron Paul was silenced because his initial appeal was tarnished by racist remarks that allowed into a news letter he made and also because of the naivetee of his overall platform. If you're implying the Kennedy was assassinated by the government, and that it happened because he was trying to impose a silver standard, then I think you need to recognize that you're probably making a few pretty big logical leaps there in trying to prove a point.

I'm probably not the best person to explain why it's a bad idea to attach the value of our dollar solely to gold, or silver, or platinum, or rubies, or cobalt, or magnesium, or anything that comes out of the earth, but I already gave you the basic idea: because the value of these items has very little correlation to the myriad of factors that influence economic conditions. If that natural resources value changes dramatically (up or down), which it inevitably will...

I don't know about implementing all of his changes; but what I do know of some of the history of the federal reserve, is that it is foolish to allow bankers to be in control of that which the govt should be. The families that are behind the fed - the Rockefellers, Walburgs, Rothschilds, are not in the best interest of the people. The bailout for example was a band-aid that only further empowered. A semi private bank might have some merit the existing one though.

...you'd see why it's completely illogical to have attached the value of the dollar to it: you're going from a system where the imaginary money is influenced by all of the other imaginary money, to a system where the imaginary money is influenced exclusively by the value of the finite resource (as valued in imaginary money anyway, but not in a way that's in any way stable or tied strongly to the realities of real world goings-on besides fashion and circuit boards and demand for Goldschallger).

That is still the best alternative to a dollar that is supported by nothing and which the value of is contingent upon how much of it is in circualtion. Printing more money out of thin air is what has been done and creates only debt. Now were there no debt or interest attached to that dollar, it might be different; but the federal reserve is a supreme court deem corporation in the business of profit; a profit at our expense. And while I can appreciate you not readily accepting that...

Okay, I knew we were going to come out with this when you said you'd researched the Federal Reserve. Watching Zeitgeist does not count as research, nor does watching YouTube videos made by watching people who watched Zeitgeist. Since you're a critical thinker, please look into where you're getting your information, and if it's from an echo chamber, then you're not doing research, you're looking for ideas to confirm what you already want to believe.

without a viable alternative I can't see not accepting it over the existing practice. I think what's not being considered and that neither of us can actually explain, is that what you describe relative to mineral value increasing and decreasing, is not only subject at present to the existing monetary system, but market influences and changes; which we already know are somewhat manufactured. There's more here than meets the eye obviously. and a gold or silver standard would naturally not only...

The viable alternative system would be an entirely electronic system, which will come soon enough, but not without a bunch of people who watched Zeitgeist bitching about the new world order. I'm all in favor of being critical of government, but I don't think that conspiracy theorists realize that by conjuring up the most convoluted, wacky, exciting worldview they can, it prevents them from expending nay thought or energy on the real-yet-boring problems that actually affect them.

You knew it would come to that because you know your tendency to assume; and while I did watch Zeitgeist, what I know of the federal reserve, I know from the teachings of Murry M. Rothbard- Economist. I am not an authority; nor do I pretend to be; but just because hisa video might be on youtube or any other site in this information age, doesn't invalidate it or make it any less credible. Histroy books given in schools have been found to contain inaccuracies and a distortion of facts.

Careful of what you allege one guilty of. i.e. accepting only that which supports my beliefs, while you dismiss any that contradict your own. If I make any suppositions, I will present it as such, and not as fact. On the other hand, If I learn something from someone deemed as a credible and reliable source, I will believe that person or teachings, until I disprove it through some practical application myself, or someone more credible than my source can prove what I learned to be inaccurate.

Well, okay, I am certainly glad to hear that you're not getting this stuff simply from Zeitgeist, although keep in mind that movie has really tainted the well for legitimate criticism of the Federal Reserve. 3. As for what you perceive as 'holier-than-thou videos'...You are the first to view them as such; and if one person views them that way, others may see them similarly. I analyze their tone to see how they can be perceived as such, and where needed, I will correct that in the future. The whole objective is to on some level, offend to affect a change. With your initial comment in mind...How did that differ from what you allege I do, if it offends anyone? There is no difference. I immediately perceived it as a put down; just as you perceive my videos to be 'holier than thou,' and there must therefore be some truth to that, for either to be construed as such, such is the language and tone of your opening comment.
