It's fascinating that you can hear he came from Lennie Tristano...but was also laying the foundation for Herbie, Chick, Ritchie Beirach and many others. In terms of creating an influential style, only McCoy Tyner was his equal at this time.

.....little did you know the Beatles would still be the most popular and influential band ever, but Bill is equally as influential in his own right still to this day.

Check out some Brad Mehldau - very musical and many interpretations of songs that are not originally from the jazz repertoire (try his albums "Art of the Trio")

Yea I had the same thought, it's definitely Le Mesurier.
I love these clips of Bill from this era ... I was in my teens and listening to the Beatles and The Rolling Stones.
Little did I know ......
'How Deep Is The Ocean' by The Bill Evans Trio. Recorded in London, 19 March 1965, for the UK TV series Jazz 625. Bill Evans on piano, Chuck Israels on bass, Larry Bunker on drums. Introduced by Humphrey Lyttelton.
