very interesting re: crusader037972--im of irish and english descent and live in SW MN near south dakota and iowa, very much the heart of where the dakota conflict began. It seems that there is no gain in inflicting hardship upon another people, or oneself for that matter. Both our cultures are famous for the latter and share the same colorful and soulful dedication to storytelling.

It may sound a little off but I like to compare my people, Native Americans, to the Irish People. Culturaly and historically, we are practically the same people. My people, the Lakota a.k.a. the Sioux (french word for snake" ) have endured the same hardships as the Irish yet maintain a great sense of identity. I consider them extended family across the sea.
