now one can understand WHY they call the Derby "The Most Exciting 2 Minutes In Sports"....those stretch drives were totally BREATHTAKING [ie: Alysheba nearly falling in the stretch then rallying to win!]

I didn't realize Sunday Silence was all over the place in the stretch.

Grindstone, the winner of the 1996 derby, is the grandfather of Mine that Bird :) i just learned that today.

Great montage. Sad to see Barbaro at the end running away with the Derby thinking that should have been a triple crown year. And who would of though Mind That Bird could have done it this year if that filly hadn't held on to the short Preakness.

l agree giacomo never got the respect he deserved, racing in california compromised him. he was a very good racehorse
