@RimKo7 Explain how she comes back to re-paint the same lines. And how she twists her trunk to move the line across the page.

are you kidding? it'd take a super powerful magnet to overcome an elephant's strength.

  3. Mar 14, 2010 at 07:22 PM by Carpathiantruck

Magnet to what ? The bristles? Seraynaface is right also if there were a magnet the force would not nearly be enough to guide an elephant, besides how can a magnet change where the elephant first places the brush..

how the hell would it me a magnet?? paint isnt magnetic?

  5. Mar 14, 2010 at 12:36 PM by Mancheff

    That's amazing.

  6. Mar 13, 2010 at 08:48 PM by Seraynaface

@RimKo7 Fake? Because the trunk shakes? Have you ever watched somene paint? Just about any painters hand shakes before they apply the brush to the paper in which the eisel holds it. And even if it was a magnet, the force wouldn't be that great the elephant would overcome.

It's so fake!!! Yiu could see that its a magnet behind, every time she gets near the paper it shakes a bit and then like drown to the paper!!! come on!!!

@RustedPlatinum Right, totally. I think we all want to believe that the elephants recognize the images they are being guided to create - and the documentary on it I had seen would certainly give that impression. It isn't until you do a little digging that you get the facts, but that is not to take away from the achievements of these animals.

@jastaiti Like I said before, it is impressive! Even if she is being guided by a tug on her ear where to lay the brush down, it still requires a great amount of intelligence and dexterity.

@stupidpoopname Even if it is always the same painting she does, isn't that still cool?

I didn't say that they can't recognize images, it's just my opinion that this elephant was taught to paint this image. What I'm trying to say through my comment is that humans and elephants think in completely different ways. To understand the elephant you must BE an elephant. All animals think in entirely different ways and no species has the right to say they are the smartest because there IS NO smartest when you think about how varied thought patterns could potentially be.
