I agree they are diffent platforms. The Typhoon is built as a multi-roll aircraft similar to that of the F-18. But saying the Typhoon would beat a Raptor in a 1 v 1 dog fight is rediculous. Thats like saying Mig-29 would beat Su-37 in a 1 v 1. Typhonn falls into the 4.5 generation aircraft while F-22 falls into the the 5th generation. And yes it is as stealthy as advertised. In a fight aginst 12 F-15's two raptors won in a matter of minutes. Aginst state of the art air to air radar.

@jamses23 but, the typhoon is built for a different role to the F-22, the Typhoon is more a fighter bomber, the F-22 raptor, is basically a mach 3 megajet that blows air targets, whereas the F-22 Mobius, similar role to Typhoon, but, heavier bombs

Not so much. F-22 has stealth, advanced AMRAM missles, super cruise and super manuverability. The US tax payers didn't spend BILLIONS in development to be beten out by the Typhoon. Which is a nice aircraft but, is like comparing Aston DBS to the Veyron. Both great cars one is just miles better.

The Typhoon can detect the F22 (it's not as invisible as the hype would suggest) and is definately more manouverable than the Raptor. Downsides. Its supercruise is slower and it carries a lower payload of weapons. Apples and oranges really, they both have their fortes and are both excellent aircraft. USAF Chief of Staff General John P. Jumper said, and I quote, "I have flown all the air force jets. None was as good as the Eurofighter" Case closed in my opinion!

Nah, as a Brit I'd love to say the Eurofighter is the better aircraft but it just isnt. In pretty much every way you can compare them the F-22 comes out top trumps, including maneuverability

Purely opinion. the F22 does what it does quite well...........but woul have its arse handed to it by the Typhoon in a dogfight..

@SeeYouNextFall Indeed, just stating that it had come up against a formidable opponent with regards to transonicbuoy1's comment. Not saying that I disagree that the F-15 has the edge at least technologically; it is one of my favourite aircraft based on it's awesome capability. But to discount the likes of the Mig-29 as a threat I felt was wrong. (...but then again, a SHAR FRS1 has beaten a Luftwaffe Mig-29 in mock Visual range engagement before).

@P4rtis4n Yes, the Mig 29 is a serious threat. But to win battles you need good hardware AND software. American, British and other "like" nations have the best pilots in the world.

there are plenty of videos of f 15s but jeremy clarkson being in it makes it so much better!
