Dr Who has always had cheap sets and props, hasn't it? That has always been part of its charm in my opinion.

I wish I had the BBC's money... I wonder what the British taxpayer thinks about this? With that said I just about pissed my pants watching it!

LOST (Sky one) The Gadget Show (Five) Desperate Housewives (Channel 4) Friday night from Jonathan Ross is the best BBC programme on at the moment but it's only good when funny or interesting people are on which is about half of the time. Of-course Top Gear is brilliant. The best programme aired on the BBC definitely.

Some BBC programmes are shockingly bad. Some I don't know the name because they aren't popular for good reason. Eastenders is shockingly bad yet popular. A lot of it seems to be low budget, so I think you are wrong. The new set of Doctor who series was hilariously badly made to begin with but has improved quite a bit since however. Other channels have good content which definitely rivals the BBC. At the moment the programmes I am mainly interested in are:

Mostly because programmes made from it don't have to have as much obvious commercial appeal (which these days seems to involve being as cheap to make as possible and full of celebrities I've never heard of. The BBC does this too, though). Most decent stuff on commercial TV seems to be bought from elsewhere, although there are a few exceptions.

People seem to think the TV license effects what type of programmes are made but how does it?

  18. Mar 3, 2010 at 11:57 AM by Reorte

Would be, except if it means things like this keep getting made then I'm OK with it. Commercial TV doesn't seem to produce stuff like this unfortunately, just endless crap reality shows.

It's called the "You wouldn't have a space program if it weren't for the nazis, prior to Werner von Braun you couldn't get a man on the roof never mind the moon, even your attempts to break the sound barrier were fooked till you nicked the idea for an all moving aileron from the british Miles M.52 but then again you did give us Baywatch, Dept of Fuck you, septic"

What commercials between shows are you talking about? I can only think you're watching re-runs on satellite. The BBC has no commercials. The BBC is the majority stakeholder in the company which makes Top Gear (Bedder 6) and although it does sell it to other countries, they make no direct revenue from product placement only from merchandising, foreign rights and DVD sales. All of which take place after the programme is produced. Where are you getting your duff info from Dutch?

  22. Mar 1, 2010 at 07:14 PM by doctordrew66

It's a direct tax on anyone who owns a tv set as covered by an act of parliament. If you own one, you pay it. The BBC has no advertising revenue. Get your facts straight before shooting your mouth off numb (note the spelling) nuts.
